Visiting artist Adrian Stimson has been in Lambton County since May 2 and has hosted a number of workshops and presentations in various locations.
Last Thursday, as part of our Art & Ideas lecture series, Stimson spoke to his artistic practices and introduced the audience to his artistic characters, "Buffalo Boy," and the "Shaman Exterminator," as well as his exhibition that have been hosted across Canada and internationally.
This past Family Sunday, visitors joined in on the Herd Workshop and had the opportunity to paint and decorate casted hydra-stone miniature bison. The vivid colours and patterns serve to honour the memory of the 75 million bison that used to roam this land and through this activity we remember the resilient Spirit of the buffalo and are happy to hear they continue to multiply.
On Monday, Adrian hosted his Drawing Treaty workshop at the Lambton County Heritage Museum in Grand Bend. Particpants drew their inspiration from the reading of the "1827 Treaty – King George IV & The Chippewa Nation," uncovered from the archives of a local participant.
