The gallery will be open New Years day from 1:00 to 4:00 pm! That will be your last chance to catch our opening exhibitions: Adad Hannah's, The DiversionsCanada on Canvas and Ben Skinner's, SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE.

After January 1, the third level of the gallery will be closed for the installation of upcoming exhibitions and will re-open February 2, 2013. During this time of transition, Core Sample: Points of Departure, located on the second level  of the gallery will be open during regular public hours.

Instant Places - Artist Residency

From January 8 - 18, the gallery will be hosting a ten day residency with artists Laura Kavanaugh and Ian Birse aka Instant Places, who will be making audiovisual 'snapshots' throughout the new building and activating multiple building surfaces with image and sound transformations.

The artists create intermedia artworks on location using software instruments they design. In their practise they combine independent activity that is local and micro-scale with internet collaboration and broadcast events. Laura and Ian have been creating performances and installations as a team since 1997. In their work the artists focus on the moment of creation, combining improvised actions with sound and image sequences generated in real time. For more information about Instant Places visit http://www.instantplaces.ca/

The group will also be holding hands-on workshops, lectures, and a celebration of the 1,000,050th birthday of Art!

Instant Places Schedule of Events:

January 10: Art & Ideas - Artist talk and Demonstration
January 12: Hands-on workshop in audiovisual performance (beginners welcome!).
