RAAW X - Ecological Dig in Sarnia's Victoria Park
The Summer RAAW workshops are so popular that we have added an extra program! RAAW X will allow participants can get their hands dirty with instructor Mary Abma, uncovering layers of Sarnia's past.
Take place Tuesday August 26 to Saturday August 30 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm, this free class offers youth ages 13-18 the opportunity to work with local artist Abma in preparation for her upcoming exhibition, Our Own Back Yard. Mary will guide participants through an ecological dig in Sarnia's Victoria Park, where the earth has remained untouched for thousands of years. Learn about the layers of soil and study native plants up close, collecting seeds and samples to be packaged for display in the exhibition.
Abma is a Bright's Grove based artist whose interdisciplinary work explores themes about history, her concern for the environment, her passion for science, and her desire to define the relationship with and place in the natural world.
To register your seat for the four day workshop call 519-336-8127 ext 3231 or email ann.helps@county-lambton.on.ca. Register your seat soon, as the workshops fill up quickly.
