March Break Technology Tantrum

Random Acts of Art Workshops (RAAW) is back with a jolt! Technology Tantrum is a FREE March break workshop for ages 13-18. 




Register today for a FREE three day workshop for youth ages 13-18, taking place in the virtual world of Second Life. Participants will use our MacBook’s to learn about mixed reality, create avatars and artist trading cards, create alter-egos, and stage performances in the virtual world of Odyssey Island.

Technology Tantrum will take place at the gallery on March 12,13 and 14, from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.


 Artist Doug Jarvis


For the workshop, Victoria, B.C. based artist Doug Jarvis will lead a workshop on mixed reality that will take place over the internet in the virtual reality of Second Life. Using the JNAAG MacBook’s and projectors, participants will make an avatar, ‘paint’ digital landscapes, complete a virtual performance, and much more! The workshop is free, but registration is required.



Artist James Kirkpatrick


The workshop will wrap-up on March 14, at 7:00 p.m, with a presentation and demonstration led by London based artist James Kirkpatrick, about his sound sculptures and the process of circuit bending and using sound in art. Kirkpatrick’s exhibition Sculpting Sound is now on display at the JNAAG until March 31. This event is free, but online registration is recommended. CLICK HERE to register.
